2009 Rules
-
Birds
- Only birds bred at the loft will be used for this race. No birds from outside lofts will be entered, this is to reduce the likelihood of medical problems occurring. The only exception to this rule are for the 'gift' pigeons.
- The birds will be owned and raced in the name of Coutts & McKay.
- All of the birds will be raced on the darkness system.
Syndicates
- Each syndicate will have a maximum of 40 entries, plus one 'gift' pigeon.
- It is anticipated to have an Aberdeen Federation and a North Federation syndicate. If we fail to get 40 applicants for any syndicate outside entries will be used to make up the numbers.
- There will be no limit on the number of syndicates.
- Any individual, club or business can purchase a bird. Why not buy a bird for club funds?
Raffle & Gift Pigeons
- It is anticipated that there will be one 'gift' pigeon per syndicate, and the 'owner' of this pigeon will be decided by raffle.
- Entrants of each syndicate will have one ticket in the raffle.
- There will be no external entrants to each syndicates raffle.
- The raffle will be drawn at the Barbecue on Sunday 31st May 2009.
Prize Money
- Each entry will cost £60. This includes a free entry into the raffle.
- Each syndicate will have the following prize money at the final race;
- First prize £1000
- Second prize £500
- Third prize £250
- It is hoped to again have sponsors for each training race to the tune of £50.
Racing
- All of the birds will compete in club racing.
- All of the birds will be recorded by the ETS system and race marked at the Sunnybank R.P.C. or as applicable to the Aberdeen Federation.
- All training and the final race will be with the Aberdeen Federation.
- The final race being the last Aberdeen Federation race, all birds left that are fit will be sent to the race.
- In the event of a race being cancelled, that race will be discarded completely.
- In the event of the final race being cancelled, the last race flown will be used to payout the prize money. This will guarantee that the prize money will be paid out.
- The birds will then go to the Scottish National Flying Club young bird race. If a bird owner during the one loft race wishes to pool the bird in the SNFC race they may do so, and any pool winnings or part thereof for that bird will be paid to the owner.
Lost Birds
It is hoped to replace lost birds before the first race so everyone has the opportunity to partisipate in the event. This has been changed to the same as last year and because of the amount of syndicates.
Conclusion
This race is being run to generate interest in pigeon racing NOT for profit. It is hoped to have a free barbecue on Sunday 31st May to draw the birds and raffle. We also hope to have a free barbecue at the last race.
Anyone willing to sponsor any part of this race should contact me via the details below.
Adjustments to the rules may be made before the inception of the race.
